Week 4 - Mystery [Nick]

First off, I would like to apologize for not getting my pictures in for over 3 weeks. But, I do have a reasonable excuse. I was moving, and I didn't have my computer set up with internet access up until Friday. Again, I am sorry.

Anyway, the word "mystery" I found very intriguing. There are a number of different things you could use for this, but these are just my ideas of the word as a picture. A silhouette, a fog, a light.

I will get the rest of my pictures in as soon as possible.

I hope you enjoy them!

Week 4: Mystery [Aaron]

Week 4: Mystery [Aaron]

Mystery in Action...

Week 4 - Mystery [Rebekah]

Mystery.

Mysteries are dark, strange, intriguing things. At the moment, they seem puzzling, inexplicable, impossible.

Yet they're not.

(Don't worry, this isn't the only picture of mystery. Others shall come, I promise you)

Week четыре - Mystery [Parker]

There is little which is more mysterious than the man in the moon. We had the good fortune of seeing his entire face this past week so I took advantage of this opportunity.

"Don't worry the moonbeams, and don't kill my white rabbits!"
- The Man-in-the-Moon (Roverandom)

The following picture is accidentally mysterious. I find it quite comical. Why is she leaving? Who is she leaving? The questions that could be associated with this small text are endless.

Week 4 - Mystery [Jeannette]

Mystery.

That is basically what comes to mind when I think of mystery: darkness, strange lights, shadows, things undefined. As I was leaving home one evening, I saw that and thought it was perfect. A couple days later I discovered mystery was next week. Oh well, it turned out blurry anyway.

Mystery is another one I would like to return to, feeling that I didn't well execute the many ideas mystery brings to mind. Someday I will wander some edge-of-town area with my camera at night...

My favorite, with thanks to Melody for posing and freezing...

Week 3 - Countenance [Nick]

This weeks word I found pretty easy. Not much to say about these pictures overall, other than I hope you enjoy them.

This first one I took on Christmas Day. My cousin, Alyssa, was having a nice chat with one of my relatives when I captured her facial expression in the middle of the conversing.
I thought it portrayed "countenance" pretty well, so I decided to use it.

These next photos makes me laugh. While my mom was talking to my sister, the below photo is one of the expressions she made. The picture below that is my dad, also on Christmas.

Countenance at it's finest.

Week 3 - Countenance [Rebekah]

Countenance is not simply a person's face. It is the expression that the face conveys.

In this case, the face conveys rest. Here, Josh is taking a Sunday afternoon nap at the Beerbowers.

(I'm sure he'll be thrilled with this)

After I went home and looked at the pictures I had taken at the Beerbower's, I was actually rather pleased with this one. Although it doesn't even have a face in it, it conveys "rest" and "countenance" when put with the other pictures. That method reminds me somewhat of Sherlock Holmes' deductions. In the stories, he would always be looking at the whole appearance of a person and noticing different small, seemingly meaningless things about their attire,  the way they carried themselves, or the way they spoke. However, when put together with the all the other small meaningless things he noticed, it gave him the whole story about a person. In the same way, although the shoes themselves aren't exactly screaming countenance, when put with the other pictures it helps to create the feeling of the word.
That's what I've been trying to do with my posts. Not just simply take a literal picture of "shimmer", or "silence", but try to convey the meaning and feeling of the word to you guys. Hopefully I have been achieving my goal with this somewhat!

Week 3 - Countenance [Jeannette]

Countenance.

Countenance is an interesting word. It's rather neglected, and sort of hard to explain. You know what it means, but how to describe it? Sort of like a similar, even more neglected word: mien. Which is such an awesome word, I don't know why nobody uses it. Mien means appearance, demeanor. Countenance means much the same thing, but with a different feeling to it, a different emphasis.

The face.

At the beginning of this week, I thought we were doing next week's word, so I was unprepared for countenance. Countenance...I didn't know what to do. Then, I took pictures for my brother at college. Coming out into the courtyard of University Hall, I stopped. Countenance! I thought.

For this was the scene I saw:

And a countenance came to mind immediately.

Forlorn.

The scene was dead, sad, silent, lonesome.

It was forlorn.

And so I looked for forlorn people-or people that could put on that look, rather.

With all due thanks to Amy, for setting up a forlorn scene inadvertently and patiently posing, Deanna for looking so sad for me, and Rebekah for the picture of her and use of her camera.

Week три - Countenance [Parker]

I was going to wait and see what others thought of for this word before I opened my mouth but that strategy has flopped. So once again you have my genius starting off the week.

I had difficulty thinking of a creative way to portray this word. The only thing I can think of is a face and while that does allow for a wide variety of pictures, none of them are particularly creative. I ended up putting a magnifying filter on the end of my lens to make the expression really stand out.
Let's welcome Isaac back as my model for the week.

I also decided to throw in a good picture of my grandfather because he is awesome.

Week 2 - Silence [Aaron]

Here we are in our second week of The Visualization Project; and I was very excited to show "silence" through these next pictures.

Silence. The absence of sound, and usually movement as well. I think of it having a sense of emptiness, loneliness, and solitude. A type of nothingness. Well, nothing is more silent than a sleeping baby, or a tree in an empty field. So, without further to do, here is what I was able to accomplish. Enjoy!
